Artist's Statement

My artwork is both a reflection of the outer world of nature and the inner world of human perception and emotion. They are a way of bridging these two worlds, which according to some belief systems, are not separate worlds at all.

A sunset landscape changes in seconds. I am fascinated by these changes in light, shadow, shape and color. I like using acrylic paints because they allow me the flexibility to work quickly and change my mind.

While I frequently observe nature, I do not paint directly from it (by working outside or looking through a window). For this reason my paintings are products of memory, emotion and state of mind.
